1. Does Costa Rica require a visa?
Answer: For American travelers, we do not need a visa to Costa Rica. As with all international travel, a passport is necessary with an expiration date more than six months from the day that we are to return from the trip.
2. What about any special shots or vaccinations?
Answer: What I understand is that Costa Rica is a pretty clean place and that our State Department does not say any special shots are vaccinations are required. However, as with any statement related to health, be sure and check this out yourself as well consult with your physician as well as Dr. Google.
3. What is the temperature like in Costa Rica the middle of October?
Answer: During the middle of October Weather.com reports that the temperature in San Jose averages during the day 77 degrees which is 3 degrees cooler than in Dallas in October. Nights average 60 degrees which is exactly the same average as Dallas during the evening. This is a good time of year to enjoy Costa Rica.
4. What about rain?
Answer: James Kaiser who is a noted travel author knows Central America well and says “Visit Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast in October and you’ll enjoy beautiful weather and limited crowds. This is one of the best months to visit terrific National Forest destinations. And because seas are often calm in October, it’s a great time to snorkel in the Caribbean side beaches or scuba dive offshore.” This being said, we will not totally bypass rain so bring an umbrella for occasional afternoon showers. We will NOT be visiting the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica which is especially rainy in October.
